Sam wanted to become a real member of our family and asked if we could adopt her. So I talked to her parents who haven't had her for years and they both agreed. We got the papers signed by them on Wednesday and Thursday. Tomorrow is our second visit to our lawyer and she said everything is going so smoothly that we might be able to get our court hearing for November 7th. We're excited to have it almost done with. Now that we're retired it's been very hard because we can't get a family plan insurance for the three of us. Only for her. We're on Medicare and have all sorts of good insurance. Sam on the other hand has crappy insurance for almost what we're paying for ours and hers includes NO pharmacy coverage at all. We've spent a fortune since we retired. Now she'll be able to be on our insurance. I'm very excited about it. 5 1/2 years of medical is worth what we had to go through for this. :)
I just wanted to share this news with all of you. We didn't want to become parents again at 60, but here we are seven years later doing just fine with her.
PS: She doesn't wear glasses but she loves her fake glasses. LOL She's a hoot.
