I'm sorry I've been less active lately. So much is going on in real life. But I still read the posts now and then and keep up with everyone. Real life is kicking me in the butt.

My thirty year old Grandson, Vincent just broke up with his girlfriend of four years. They were planning on getting engaged but she told him she wants to be single for awhile. It's really hard on Jayla, his daughter. Vincent has her every other week. And Haley was really good with her. Vincent is heartbroken and blames himself for everything. He's been so depressed, so I try and keep him busy with his daughter and us as much as I can. So hopefully, he'll be all right. He's a mess right now.

Next, my 15 year old Grandson, Thomas is being tested on July 3rd at the children's hospital cancer clinic in Phoenix for Leukemia. But he's also being tested for HIV, and Lupus. I'm praying he has none of them, but his white blood cell count keeps getting lower and lower. Poor thing. He feels really bad. I mentioned something to someone at the grocery store and the fire department overheard what I said and they asked for my email. I gave it to them, if you can't trust the fire department, you can't trust anyone. Am I right. Anyway, I got home and there was a 100.00 gift card for comics for Thomas. I texted him and we put the order together and he's got 100 bucks worth of new comics to take to Phoenix. Not to mention, we're getting him a bunch also. We pray that he'll be fine. Thomas told me he can't believe how nice people are to people they don't even know. :) I agreed with him big time. So I'm not sleeping that well, thinking about all this. Poor guy is too sick to go through the testing right now. Please keep him in your prayers. He's such a sweetheart.

I just can't seem to get out of this funk I've been in for two weeks. Hopefully, I perk up soon. I'm tired of being depressed, it's depressing to everyone else. I like making people smile and feel good better.

Hope you are all well. Everything at my house is good. Sam is 14 now and getting more grown up every day. Things are going well for her.

Hugs, Patt

Oh, Patt! About Thomas in particular. At least Sam is doing well.

Re the depression. If I'm feeling at all down, I go for a herbal remedy - Passiflora. Twenty drops of it in a little (a mouthful) of water twice a day. For me, it works, and you can get it from Amazon. OK, it could be psychological, but it works.

I'm willing to try anything. I will order some this week. Thank you for the suggestion.

I hope to have good news next month, but we'll keep his uplifted no matter what.

I definitely hope so"

The Passiflora will take a few days before you feel any benefit, but I do think it's worth trying.

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles. I send some positive thoughts about the tests.

It's hard not to be depressed with so much going on. {{{Hugs}}}

I'm so sorry to hear this, Patt. I know it's pedantic, but it's better Vincent and his girlfriend broke up now rather than after they were engaged/married.

Bless your fire department. People can be wonderful, and learning they did something so kind is uplifting.

Depression sucks, there's no other way to put it. I hope the Passiflora helps.

Take care, Patt. I'll keep you and your whole family in my thoughts. <3

((((((Hugs Patt)))))

Dear dear Patt, I'm so sorry for this tough patch. Being worried about Thomas, and about Vincent and being sad about the breakup is hard, then on top of that you're trying to shore everyone else up, which takes a ton of energy. I hope Sheila's suggestion helps enormously in giving the depression a boot out the door. (And you have me smiling when you say you like making people smile -- that's just who you are, dearest Patt, so please don't get down on yourself when you're down!)

I will pray for Thomas. So scary for him and for all of you. The gift card thing was wonderful, and yes, Thomas, people can be amazingly kind. I don't exactly know why but that kindness from the Fire Dept. makes me hopeful, so I'll put that energy into my thoughts and prayers for him.

Please know we all love you, Patt. And even though we've never met, my world is a better, happier, and more loving place just because I know you even just this little bit.

You made me cry. You are such a good friend. I ordered the stuff Sheila suggested. We’ll see how that works. I talk to Thomas everyday and I tell him all about my friends and he is in awe.

***hugs you again***

Keeping you and Thomas and Vincent in my thoughts and prayers, lovely lovely Patt. (Thomas is right: there are some awesome people in this fandom -- which has absolutely been a saving grace for me over the years -- and you are one of those awesome people yourself. I know I keep saying this, but I wish we lived nearby and could get together for coffee or tea or whatever and just hang out. *wistful face*)

I woul love that too.

I'm not surprised that you've been a bit preoccupied. I hope that all these family upsets find a good resolution.

Vincent suffers from depression so we worry about him. He’s a hell of a lot better than Thomas. We hope to have some news soon.
