A very sad day for me.

My second cousin passed away in June and I'm so sad. She was an angel. She and my cousin George were both deaf and we didn't have much contact with them because of that, but I stayed in contact with her through email and facebook. We just found out today. George didn't even let us know. My mom was very sad to hear the news. She said that God always seems to take the good ones first. Laverne was just so good to George and anyone else in her church in Chicago. I will miss her. I already missed hearing from her as she got worse, the emails stopped. :( God has a new angel that will be his right hand woman. :) God bless you, Laverne.

I was just thinking about my dad and Laverne having fun up there. Dad loved Laverne when they would come for visits. So hopefully they are visiting once again. This makes me feel somewhat better.

Hugs, Patt

Oh, Patt, I'm so sorry! Even though you haven't had much contact lately, that doesn't diminish what you felt for her. (((hugs)))

George will be lost without her. She did the FAcebook account, email and letter writing. We wrote to each other every week in email and once a month in the snail mail. But I was somewhat hurt that he couldn't have asked someone that could talk and hear to call us and tell us. You know? Not that I could have went, but it would have been nice to know when she passed.

I know just what you mean. Years ago my mum's favourite sister killed herself and my mum wasn't told till well after the funeral (and then by someone not closely connected to my aunt's family) because Auntie Elva's family was embarrassed that she'd been suffering from clinical depression and had shot herself. My mum was devastated that she didn't even get the chance to have closure and say goodbye. When my ex husband, Dru, died two years ago I wasn't allowed to go to his funeral, despite the fact we'd stayed friends and I got along really well with his widow (his third wife) because she felt they couldn't ask me and not his second wife and they were worried the second wife would cause trouble and upset at the service. Broke my heart.

People are very strange. In George's defense, he's so out of his league when it comes to anything like the computer or even writing a letter. Being deaf is very hard. It wasn't until he met Laverne that he was able to start living a normal life. I wish he would have written to us, but also understand his actions. *sigh*

I'm so sorry, Patt. *hugs* It must have added to it that George didn't let you know. :o(

It's like my husband said, he might be deaf, but his fingers weren't broken. He knew that Laverne and I wrote to each other weekly until the end. I even sent two cards and letters after she died, not knowing she did. It's just so sad. He should have written to me. :(

Oh love, I'm so sorry. And awful not to know until later. It makes the grieving harder somehow. She sounds like a total sweetheart.

Big hugs, and tons of love. ♥

She lost her hearing when she was 37, so she was able to talk and read lips easily. It w2as nice when we were together. So much fun. A happier person you couldn't find. She loved life so much. I just wish it would have been a little more gentle with her. She had four kinds of cancer. They didn't even try to treat it. We knew she was going, but George should have told us when she did. I sent two cards and two letters after she had died. That made me angry. George should have told us. It's pretty sad when you have to check online with her church for the deaf, to see what's going on. I miss the emails. I miss the letters and the joy she brought into my life.
