I'm a little overwhelmed...

My daughter was a hoarder and I'm a very organized person, so I am now left with all of her things and what to do with them. My spare room is waist high in clothing and junk and the walk-in closet is shoulder high. Yes, you read that right. I walk into the room and don't know where to start. It's such a disaster. I was telling my son about it today and he asked me if I had any plans for the 28th on a Monday and I told him I didn't. He said, "I'm coming over and going to box up everything in that room. You're going to have a spare room again and you won't feel overwhelmed anymore." He's very organized too. So hot damn. I'm going to have a spare room again. Woot! Thomas is very good to us. He helps with anything we need done. In fact, we're thinking about tiling our living room, dining room and hallway and he's going to do it for us. He laid tile for years for a company, so he knows his way around all that. We have no idea what we're going to do with all of it. For right now, it'll go in our third part of our three car garage. Thankfully, we do have room. I have a new comforter for the bed and we just need to get a new mattress. That mattress is about 13 years old and seen it's better days. While we're at it, we're getting a twin bed for Sam. Her room isn't huge and the full sized bed takes up most of her room. There is no room for her in there. :) Thursday is Teacher/Parent conferences and I'm looking forward to hearing how Sam is doing with us being in charge. She's struggling with long division, so I need to see about a tutor for that. They have tutors for everything at the school. She seems fine and we noticed that she laughs and hangs out with us a lot, so I think she'll be all right. :)

I hope you're all having a great week. Hugs.

Does it sound heartless to say I'd seriously consider giving all the clothes to Goodwill or somewhere similar, assuming they're in good condition, rather than clutter up part of a garage. If they're not in good condition, dump them. If the junk is just junk, bin it. Your daughter left all that behind, she obviously had no immediate need for it; you've got no obligation to keep it.

My son said the same thing. He thinks it's stupid that we're saving anything. So maybe that's what we'll do.

It's such a big job, so glad to have Thomas helping me with it. :)

I'm a dreadful, awful, horrible person, so my solution to someone else's stuff abandoned with me is to tell them nicely to come pick it up by such and such a day, and after that, a nice big bonfire! Though it's probably better to give it to charity... it's just the thought of flames I find so attractive *g*

You're being a star, and so is your son. And fingers crossed for a brilliant Teacher/Parent session. It sounds to me like Sam's doing famously in your care.

I think I'll call Goodwill as soon as we're done and go from there. There is so darn much that it's going to be a big haul for them. They'll love me. I'm hoping the confernece goes well. I have good feelings about it. :)

I'm not surprised you're feeling overwhelmed with it - it sounds overwhelming! I'm glad your son's going to box it all up and move it. I don't think anyone would blame you for donating the lot to Goodwill or wherever and just being done with it.

I hope the school conference goes well. *hugs*
