Dad went for his checkup today...

the news wasn't that good. THe doctor said, yes the mass had shrunk last time and dad was doing so well, but this time, the mass if larger and he told dad that he wouldn't have to come back in again for another visit. There was nothing left to do. When the time comes they will notify hospice and they will help mom and dad. We all knew that lung cancer wasn't going to get better, but we had hoped. Dad is doing great. He said that he's ready whenever the Lord wants him and if he wants him to stay longer, then he will stay as strong as he can for mom. Looks like I'll be making some extra trips to New Mexico in the next six months or so. Say a little prayer for him, if you could. He could use them, I'm sure.

Hugs, Patt

It's difficult and no words really make it better.
You know you can email me anytime, btw, if you need to talk.

I'm doing pretty well. WE all know that we have to visit more often now and have the grandkids make a trip to see him. Just in case. It'll probably scare him to see all of the grandkids coming at the same time, so we're all working this out so we won't alarm him or mom.

I think it's wise to stagger the grandkid schedule.

How's your mom doing with all this?

Sad news, Patt. I'm sorry. ::hugs::

He's had a really good life and he is aware of that, so doesn't mind going anytime. We just don't want him to. Selfish people that we are. But he is doing great and might live for another year or two. One never knows. He says his rosary every night and I think he'll do well. THank you for the hugs.

Hugs you back,

I was talking to Lisa on the phone tonight and we decided that dad is so hard headed that he'll probably live until he's in his 90s. I was a little blue when I wrote it, but then I realized that he's had a great life and he's been happy through most of it. HOw could you possibly complain about that, right? He's going to be 89 on his next birthday and he's already planning on who is coming to New Mexico for that. So, he's upbeat. Thank you for the hugs.

I'm so sorry the news isn't good luv, but he sounds strong and positive, and at peace with whatever happens - hopefully he'll be around for a long time to come.

Love and hugs babe - I know we're all invisible friends, but we're all still here for you no matter what. ♥

I adore all of my fandom friends. :) I don't know how I would get through things without you. Dad is strong and I have a feeling he's got some fight left in him. So we'll just enjoy what time we have left with him. It might be years. :) Thank you for the hugs.

I'll be thinking of you and your family. (((Patt)))

You know, Mab, we've been so lucky in our family that I ought to focus on that. Dad's going to be 89 on his next birthday and most people don't even have their parents at that age. So I'm going to enjoy the hell out of his company for the time he has left. I'm not so sad today. I think yesterday was just a little bit of a shock.

I am sorry, Patt. I hope things go as well as they possibly can for you Dad.

Things could always be worse, so I must count my blessings. Thank you for the hugs. A person always needs hugs. :)

We still have him at 88, so I shouldn't have been whining. We're hoping he doesn't have to suffer from the cancer, but instead just gets old. WE can hope.

You weren't whining and I hope for that for you too *hugs*.
