Day 9: I am grateful for my parents still being with us. My dad is 87 and a half (his words, not mine) and he's doing quite well. My mom is 85 and not faring as well as dad is, but she's a trooper and is going to hang in there as long as she can. They both had a very hard life growing up and then got married and had 8 kids. Yes, you read that right, eight kids. Times were tough for them and they didn't have much, but they taught us all how to love and live without. And for this I am totally grateful, because there were many years we didn't have much in our lives either. (Rodney and myself) We were taught to be happy and do the best we could and we always did both. My mother always says that she has 7 boys instead of 6 because she counts my hubster as one of hers. He's been in the family since he was 16. His dad died when he was 17. So having my dad has been great for both of us. I know that someday I'm going to have to post something about one of my parents having passed, but I dread the day. I really like them and they like us. They are a very good reason to be grateful.
