Poor Sam.

Sam, our granddaughter that we're raising felt poorly for about three days. I kept her home. It seemed to be her asthma and I didn't want her disrupting the classrooms with her coughing. Anyhow, that took place on monday and by Thursday, she was really bad. I took her to the doctor and found out from two doctors that she has Whooping Cough. (They did a blood test to be sure, and it was positive.) Even though she was vaccinated, she still got it. They said someone with weak lungs, as with asthma, are prone to get things easier. So she's been home for over two weeks now. Sicker than a dog. Rod and I had to get meds to be sure we didn't get it. She can't leave the house, even though her meds are done, she's still coughing up a storm. The doctor said it might be another three to five weeks before she's strong enough to go back to school. And in the meantime, we have to see a Pediatric Pulmonologist to see if her lungs have been damaged. And then the doctor said Sam probably got it from someone that didn't vaccinate their children. That made me so angry. For a week, I didn't sleep at night because of her wheezing and coughing. It was very scary. Her Birthday party was supposed to be this weekend, but of course we had to call it off. She was so bummed about that. Her school has been so great. They send home the homework on Friday and we do it in four days and then I drop it back off. She won't fail her classes at all. What a relief. Lisa, Duncan's Twin flew into Tucson for a visit the day that we found out about Sam. She had to be medicated also. And what a trooper she has been. She's been entertaining Sam and watching scary movies with her. I won't watch them. *grin* Lisa is a sport. So please keep her in your thoughts. Thanks.

Hugs, Patt
