Simon walked out of his office and saw an almost empty squad room. Looking at one of his officers he said, “Miller, do you know where everyone is?”
“Yes sir, they’re in the break room, Sandburg is telling a joke.”
“Doesn’t anyone work around here?” Simon mumbled as he made his way to the break room to yell.
He reached the doorway and saw a full house and listened to see what Sandburg was saying.
“One afternoon, Simon was driving down the freeway when all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, he was pulled over by a state trooper in hot pursuit.
The police officer strutted up to the driver's window and asked Simon, "Sir, didn't you know that your Police observer had fallen out of your car about four or five miles back?"
Simon exclaimed, "Thank Goodness! What a relief! I thought that I had gone deaf."
Everyone started to laugh, including Simon and he said, “All right anyone that doesn’t have anything to do, let me find something for you.”
Simon nearly caused a stampede that day. It’s funny how fast the break room cleared out.
“Sorry about the joke, Simon.” Blair said cautiously.
“It was funny, it reminded me of myself trying to ignore you. It was true to life, kid. Now get to work.”
